Edward Bell

The EMC Education Technology team is managed by Ed Bell and is focused on providing education technology and solutions.  His team also provides consulting services to the EMC Education Services team. One of their areas of expertise is assisting the EMC education development teams in evaluating and understanding technology related to expanding and improving tools and services used for training EMC internal employees, partners, and customers.

Neil Heffernan

Neil Heffernan enjoys doing educational data mining and running the ASSISTments system. ASSISTments helps schools teach better. It’s a web service hosted at WPI that allows teachers to assign nightly homework or daily class work. Students get instant feedback while teachers get live reports. Professor Heffernan enjoys supervising WPI students in creating ASSISTments content and features. He has  6 dozens paper in educational data mining, and 20+ papers in comparing different ways to optimize student learning.

Professor Heffernan also Co-Directs the Learning Science and Technologies Graduate Program. He is always interested in working with new students in solving these problems, and says ASSISTments has been created by WPI students for the world..

Jean Marrapodi

Jean Marrapodi, PhD, CPLP is the Vice President, Manager of Instructional Design at Citizens Bank, where she leads a talented group of 10 IDs to create eLearning and classroom materials for the 20,000 employees at the bank. Jean has been designing eLearning since the 90s, using her skills for 16 years in various industries in the corporate sector and 5 in higher education. A frequent conference speaker, she has presented at local, regional, national and international conferences. Jean specializes in making the complex simple, and especially loves working with beginners. In her free time, she tutors low-literacy adults.

Mike Savio

Michael Savio is an instructional designer with over 11 years of experience. He is known for the development of engaging and interactive eLearning and blended learning solutions. Mike has a background that spans the financial services, healthcare, higher education and information technology industries. As a result, Mike has worked with both large corporations and small businesses around the country. Mike is providing an overview of Articulate Storyline and Camtasia by TechSmith. His presentation highlights the key features and benefits as well as a contrast between the two eLearning tools.

Mina Shojaeizadeh

Mina Shojaeizadeh is pursuing her PhD in Information Technology at the Foisie School of Business at WPI. She specializes in User Experience and is currently doing research in User Experience and Decision Making (UXDM) laboratory. Mina uses eye tracking technology in order to better understand the user's behavior and the user's reaction to the technology. She analyzes the eyes' metrics such as saccades, fixations and Pupil Dilation data acquired from eye tracking software by developing MATLAB algorithms.

Mark Simon

Mark is a Principal Training Specialist at HiMark Solutions and has over 20 years of hands-on experience with design, development, and delivery of eLearning, mLearning, and instructor-led training.  Mark is also an Adjunct Professor in the Instructional Design graduate program at UMass-Boston.

Jon Stevens

With over eight years professional design experience, Jon Stevens has been creating graphic design/visual communication for small business, business-to-consumer, and business-to-business.   His proficient knowledge in color theory, information graphics, and typography all contribute to his print work, web design, eLearning, and video creation. Jon will be covering the basics in Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects; the advantages of utilizing design software compared to other tools to make eLearning memorable.

Tim Vecchiarelli

Tim is an Instructional Designer with Athenahealth in Watertown who just earned a Master of Education in Instructional Design at UMass Boston.  Prior to Athenahealth, Tim spent 7 years as a Technical Trainer for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.
